i am not convinced yet I don't see why it should be intended to work like this. what am i missing? can you describe a use case? what would be the downsides of doing it like described in the issue-goal?
the current behavior breaks the user story of going into breakout rooms. BBB expects to cut the audio of the main room completely when opening the breakout room in another tab. With Interpretation active this is no longer the case (or is it?!):
people would need to go back to the main room and choose the floor channel (is this possible after disconnecting it) or
do it before joining the breakout room (that would be complicated when people are sent to Breakouts by a moderator)
or people could close the tab of the main room, but then they cannot easily got back to it.
people expect that there is no audio when they see the symbol (and that it doesn't use up any bandwidth). people should first decide that they want audio, then they can decide which interpretation. thats what i tried to say in #64 (closed) a while back.
purple button vor interpretation channel switching stays visible
after reconnect (via phone headset button) UI shows interpretation channel active but it is not actually connected, switching back and forth fixes interpretation audio
when interpreter disconnects:
interpretation audio still audible for the listener
purple interpretation mic button still visible
after reconnect (via phone headset button) channel floor and interpretation channel are active at the same time!
test sequence: clear interpretation state when disconnecting audio
setup for all variants (do not reuse existing session)
listener channel 1
interpreter speaks channel 1
variant A
listener disconnects audio via phone handset-button
interpreter voice stops
listener connects via phone handset-button
listener UI is in floor channel for listening and speaking
interpreter is not audible
listener switches to channel 1
interpreter becomes audible
variant B
interpreter disconnects audio via phone handset-button
interpreter voice stops for listener
interpreter connects via phone handset-button
interpreter UI is in floor channel for listening and speaking

We also observed this - but since the beginning - and we also used this as a feature. Because sometimes we had the effect, that a viewer would listen to both, the audio of the translation and the audio of the floor at the same volume (despite the it being set in the slider) - and then the viewer could disconnect to only listen to translation.
Of course in a perfect world, this would never by necessary - and it is also not a good work around, as it only works with 100% translation - no routing from floor anymore.
yes i see the value of the workaround. In this case the interpreter does not get any indication that they still have an open mic?! the volume slider should be fixed for this #91

@christian.zange please test the recent release - the volume slider has been updated this should be fixed now.
