fairregister service

fairregister emerged as a service from the netidee funded faircommons project and represents the new development of RegisteredCommons.

RegisteredCommons was serving as a timestamp service for copyright holders since 2006. The service with thousands of users and works had to be shut down due to security risks at the end of 2022.

Within the faircommons project, RegisteredCommons was redeveloped as fairregister. For this purpose, the registration process has been revised and simplified. The implementations takes place on the basis of a modern micro service architecture. The users and content of RegisteredCommons have been migrated to fairregister. Creative Commons and common open source licenses are available for licensing the works.
