Research value of common (everyday) goods concerning FairCoin transaction fees
OCP project -> https://ocp.freedomcoop.eu/work/process-logging/232/
FairCoin transaction fees are calculated regarding the size of the block created, in FC per Kb, and are currently estimated to be around 0,003 FC for each transaction. With the current official price of 1:1, such transaction fee correspond to 0,3 cents (0,003 €). There has been a debate in the last two General Assemblies about the value of that fee and if we should lower it because, as the price of FairCoin rises, the fee rise proportionally. See the assembly notes there:

From the side of Circular Economy area, we would like to research the price of some common goods around different regions and countries, especially some with everyday use and relatively low price e.g. a cup of coffee, in order to make an estimation of that fee as percentage of the value of the product. This list will let us know how to set up the transaction fee in a more fair way and keep FairCoin as the most accessible currency for everyday use in all parts of the world.
The deliverable of that research could be a list of some everyday products showing:
-
base price in several poor countries
-
percentage of the transaction fee compared to that price
For example, there are places where a cup of coffee costs 0,50€, so the transaction fee would be 0,6% of that buy, which may seem big for the standard of living there.
